Winter Storm 2010

In late February, the Hudson Valley formed a path for a hurricane-like snow storm, which left us six days without power. The wind maimed a number of trees; our house is still surrounded by broken off branches. It was freezing in the apartment, and after several days without hot food we had a barbecue in the snow. Here are some images I took after the worst was over.

This is the electrical panel in the bedroom after two surges:

And this was our fridge for the time being:

This is not a shrine but Chris' attempt to make the most of candle light - using a magnifying mirror: it actually worked.

Leah - I still can't believe that she voluntarily stayed with us; kudos, my dear friend - and the giant Hershey kiss (to heat up a little bit of water).

The grilled meat was incredibly delicious. It was a little like the first-strawberries-of-the-season sensation, just sooner than expected.

Kitchen mitt to the rescue.

Heating up water to do the dishes.
